History

Jämes-César Pellaton1873-1954

Watchmaker since 1895

Jämes-César Pellaton was born on 24 December 1873 in la Croix des Côtes. After finishing primary school, he does his watchmaker apprenticeship at his father’s workshop, Albert Pellaton-Favre (1832-1914). The latter was recognized as an exceptional watchmaker, specialist for tourbillons and chronometers.

Albert Pellaton transmitted his talent to his eight sons but Jämes-César inherited the most of it. In November 1898 Jämes-César begins to work for Ulysse Nardin S.A. in Le Locle. He stays there less than 5 years as a specialist of detent escapements, marine chronometers and on-board chronometers.
On 29 July 1903 he was hired at the Ecole d’Horlogerie du Locle where he will make an exceptional career for thirty-six years. He was first appointed as a teacher for the escapement class in 1903. His course was very successful. From 1908 he teaches watchmaking theory in addition to his escapement class. Furthermore he will promote the manufacturing of tourbillons in the school for gifted students. In 1909 the second tourbillon made by a student is finished when the first one is examinated by the Observatoire de Neuchâtel and is awarded the first price. The Ecole d’Horlogerie du Locle shows tourbillons and other pieces at the National Exposition of Bern in 1914. During the time Jämes-César was teaching, his students will produce 23 tourbillons.

On 6 July 1918Mr Pellaton is appointed deputy director after having served as interim director. With such a promotion he was not able to fulfill his teaching job at 100%.
In 1921, he wrote a book on the theory of escapements. The quality of this book is so high that it becomes mandatory to study it in all Swiss schools except in La Chaux-de-Fonds which uses the book written by P. Berner. This book is also used at the school in Besançon in France and translated into German and Finnish. Five editions of this book will appear.
In 1926 Jämes-César Pellaton caused a sensation in creating the smallest tourbillon of the world with a caliber of 10 ½ ```. In 1929, Jämes-Caesar Pellaton was appointed director. He replaces P. Defossez. He will hold this position until his retirement in 1939.
During his spare time Jämes-César Pellaton manufactures on its own 35 tourbillons for Patek Philippe and some others for Girard-Perregaux. He will produce movements for Ulysse Nardin and Zenith. Driven by passion, Jämes-César Pellaton will continue to work during his retirement from 1939. He produces pieces with tourbillon, detent escapements and anchor escapements on demand for private clients. These masterpieces cause nowadays the admiration of watchmakers and collectors.

Due to his theory about escapements that became broadly accepted and his scientific researches in the watchmaking field, Jämes-César Pellation was able to build important relationships abroad, especially in the Nordic countries.
Indeed, he was awarded Honorary Member of the Union of Watchmakers of Finland in 1937 and decorated by the Finnish Watchmakers Society with the White Rose Order. This is the first time such an award is given to a foreigner. He also receives the Schwender large gold medal from the Swedish Watchmakers Congress in 1948.
The merits of Jämes-César Pellaton are also recognized in the county of Neuchâtel. Following the proposition from de Faculty of Sciences and by order of the Conseil d’Etat from the 18 October 1938, Mr Jämes-César Pellaton was appointed Doctor Honoris Causa from the University of Neuchâtel. He receives this tittle on the 12 November 1938 for the 100 years anniversary of the University of Neuchâtel.
In addition he is appointed in 1942 honory member of the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC) in recognition of outstanding services made to the science of watchmaking. Mr Pellaton receives in 1946 the price of the COSC for "exceptional artistic work". Finally he becomes honorary fellow of the Société des anciens élèves du Technicum du Locle and honory member of the Fédération des anciens élèves des Ecoles techniques de la Suisse occidentale.
These awards and commendations that accompany these merits reflect the appraisal for the talent of this watchmaker and former director of the Ecole d’horlogerie du Locle, who passes away in Le Locle on 11 January 1954 at the age of 81 years.

In this spirit Michel Dawalibi revived the name of Jämes-CésarPellatonin 2009. The timepieces he produces follow the finest watchmaking tradition and exactly reflect the philosophy of Jämes-César Pellaton. According to Michel Dawalibi the art of creating tourbillon timepieces is not only the result of a tour de force but consists in glorifying the genius of Jämes-César Pellaton.
The driving idea of tourbillon maker Jämes-César Pellation was to be as close as possible to perfection. It is now an ideal for Michel Dawalibi.

VALBRAYEL1 Chronograph Limited EditionNEW

VALBRAY & LEICA PRESENT THE EL1 CHRONO
Created on the occasion of the “100 years anniversary of Leica photography”, limited to 100 pieces.

THE BIRTH OF THE PROJECT
New projects often arise by meetings guided by destiny. The birth of the watch EL1Chrono doesn’t make an exception…
Côme de Valbray is a real passionate of photography and Leica cameras.
Alfred Schopf, CEO of Leica Camera AG, watches lover and collector, discovered in 2013 the Oculus timepiece made by Valbray. Fascinated by this unique creation, he then asked to organize a meeting with the founders of Valbray.
Sharing the same passion for the ultimate mechanical perfection and individually handcrafted products, they decided to start the co-creation of a unique timepiece to celebrate the centennial of Leica Camera.

THE TIMEPIECE
Chronograph based on black and white colors, the EL1 is made of titanium grade 5 with sanded finishes. The initials of its name are chosen as a tribute to Ernst Leitz, one of the founders of Leica brand, Leica is the contraction of Leitz and camera.
The bezel integrates the “Oculus” diaphragm system of Valbray and becomes the undeniable link between the two partner’s houses. This mechanism recalls the pleasure of handling the objective of a traditional camera, and more specifically the “firing” of the shutter.
The manual revolution of the rotating bezel acts on the16 thin blades that gradually reveal the dial in a circular way, being a magic recall of a Leica diaphragm.

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...

In its closed version the EL1Chrono provides the essential reading of time given by the main hands: hours and minutes. Essential, as the click of the photographer who captures the moment. In its open appearance, the EL1reveals the chronograph, the ultimate instrument for measuring time.

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...

The highlight of the bezel is adorned with four parts of white engravings. Theirs pace, reminiscent of the four quarters of time, is relayed by fine lateral veins of the crown, who presents the Leica Camera logo.

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...

Red color subtly lying down the dial, the type of the font used and others details of the dial are all stylistic recalls of Leica cameras.
The indication of the date (at 3h), the cursor minutes (at noon) and the hours (at 6h) recall the layout settings. The seconds (at 9h) reproduce the design of the isometry button. Finally, the metallic 4.5 applied at 4 hours and half, evokes the aperture of the first Leica.
On the back of the watch, the automatic Valjoux movement with an open worked rotor is visible through a sapphire glass, darkened in a nod to the black room.

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...

Manufactured in two references, 50 titanium and 50 with a black DLC treatment, for a total edition of 100 numbered watches, each one is equipped with two different straps, evoking the cameras bands: a black in calf negonda and another in calfskin mat brown and raw stitching. They are easily changeable with a specific screwdriver provided with the watch.
Collector timepiece, the EL1Chrono signs the meeting between watchmaking and photography, around common values such as connection with time, the essentiality of the moment, aesthetics and, of course, the passion.

TAG HEUER& MONACO
TIME CHANGERS, RACING PIONEERS

Last Saturday, May 24, on the eve of the most glamorous race in motorsports, TAG Heuer hosted its annual VIP party aboard a towering luxury yacht in the brand colours at anchor in the port of Monaco, with the full squad of its longstanding Formula One racing partner, McLaren Mercedes, in attendance. During Sunday’s race, on a racetrack festooned with TAG Heuer banners, a star-studded roster of celebrity and racing Brand Ambassadors enjoyed an unrivalled view of the proceedings from inside TAG Heuer’s private box.

However, the high-visibility partnership of TAG Heuer, the world leader in prestigious Swiss chronographs, with the Automobile Club de Monaco (ACM), the governing body of the iconic Grand Prix event, runs deep beneath the glamour, and is based on shared values and commitments.

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ..           BIG FOTO

TAG HEUER& ACM: TWO TIME - CHANGING PIONEERS
In 1911, ACM launched the Rallye de Monte-Carlo, the first event gathering drivers from all across Europe, at once to prove that steam or gas powered vehicles could successfully cross the continent in winter, and to showcase the final destination, the famous casino capital of Monte Carlo. That same year, TAG Heuer patented Time of Trip, the first 12-hour dashboard chronograph for cars and aircrafts. In 1916, Heuer unveiled another time-changing breakthrough: the first stopwatch accurate to 1/100th of a second. In 1929, ACM pioneered the first Formula 1 Grand Prix within a city centre; and 70 years later it organised the first clean-energy rally.
Today, the TAG Heuer and ACM partnership includes the alternative propulsion 15th Rallye de Monte Carlo des Energies Nouvelles in March 2014.
This May, however, all focus is on the key event of the racing season, the Grand Prix de MonacoTAG Heuer’s 499th Grand Prix with its longtime partner McLaren Mercedes. The storied event  gives TAG Heuer a new opportunity to assert, once again, its status as the Swiss watch brand of record in Formula One.

TAG Heuer, the watch brand with the longest-standing legitimacy and legacy in F1 Motor Racing

The first watch brand to sponsor a professional driver — Jo Siffert, 1969.
The brand whose colours, crest and watch co-starred with the great
Steve McQueenin Le Mans, 1971.
The first watch brand to partner with a Grand Prix team — Scuderia Ferrari, 1971-1979.
The most-winning watch brand at Monaco (15 victories) as part of the longest-running partnership in Formula One (29 years) with McLaren Mercedes — 1985 to now.
The Official Timekeeper of Formula One, 1992-2003 — 1/1,000 of a second.
The Official Timekeeper of Indy Racing League, 2004-2006 and again in 2014 — 1/10,000 of a second.
The Official Partner of the Monaco Grand Prix with Automobile Club of Monaco (ACM) — 2011 to now.

TAG Heuer: the watch brand that invented the motor-sports chronograph

TAG Heuer forged the original link between race cars and watches, then crafted and perfected it, pushing it to an unprecedented level of luxury prestige.

Through its longstanding links with the best teams, drivers and cars in motor racing, the Swiss brand, the undisputed world leader in luxury sports chronographs, has pushed time and its keeping to dizzying levels of precision — 1/10th, 1/100th, 1/1,000th and 5/10,000th of a second.

TAG Heuer& MONACO: the watch brand and the Automobile Club de Monaco push their partnership to the next level

Every motor racing world champion from Juan Manuel Fangio to Jenson Button has been part of the TAG Heuer legend. So has almost every race in the sport, but none more so than the mythic Monaco Grand Prix, the most prestigious of them all.

The role TAG Heuer plays in Monaco is unparalleled in the Swiss watchmaking world. It has sponsored more first-place Monaco drivers than any brand in history. TAG Heuer ambassadors who have crossed the checkered flag first at Monaco include Niki Lauda, Jody Scheckter, Alain Prost, Ayrton Senna, Mika Häkkinen, David Coulthard, Kimi Räikkönen, Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton.

In 2011, TAG Heuer and the Automobile Club de Monaco signed a historic agreement making the Swiss brand the ACM’s Official Watch and Chronograph and Eyewear Partner of its most glamorous event: the Grand Prix of Monaco.

TAG HEUER& MONACO 2014: OUT FRONT, SETTING THE PACE

As with all of TAG Heuer’s racing partnerships past and present, TAG Heuer doesn’t just hang its colors on a banner and share in the champagne. Long before the race starts, TAG Heuer is down in the pits and the paddocks, working side by side with the drivers and crews.

CARRERA (43mm) Calibre 1887 Chronograph Monaco Grand PrixLimited Edition

The one and only CARRERA, the first sports chronograph designed for professional drivers and sports-car enthusiasts, is the standard-bearer of TAG Heuer’s unrivaled motorsports heritage. Created by Jack Heuer in 1963 and named after the dangerously grueling “Carrera Panamericana Mexico Road Race”, it was standard issue for Ferrari drivers. In 1970, every member of the 'scuderia'— Jackie Ickx, Clay Regazzoni, Mario Andretti, Carlos Reutemann and Jody Scheckter --  wore a solid gold Carrera engraved with his name and blood type. Since, It has been worn by every TAG Heuer driving great: Alain Prost, David Coulthard, Kimi Räikkönen, Fernando Alonso, Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button...

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ..           BIG FOTO

This newest addition to the CARRERA legend is standard issue for McLaren drivers and pays tribute to the Monaco Grand Prix— the race’s name is lettered in red on its ceramic bezel with tachymetre scale, and its official logo is engraved on the sapphire caseback, along with the limited edition number (0001/2,500). Beneath the glass beats TAG Heuer’s 100% in-house manufactured Calibre1887 movement. The fetching dial is in black, with two grey stripes and a red line.

The hands and  hand-applied Arabic numerals are in special “black gold” plating. The 43mm case is in sandblasted Titanium Grade 2 with black titanium carbide coating. The black rubber strap is embossed with a unique tire design inspired by the F1 tires of 1963, the year the Carrera was born. In 2015, the S3 company (Swiss Space Systems) will be organizing its first weightless ZeroG flights to a broad public. As the main partner in this project, Breitling will equip passengers with an exclusive chronograph specially designed for this experience. Registration is now open!

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ....      BIG FOTO

In 1962, Breitling made its maiden weightless flight on the wrist of Scott Carpenter with a Navitimer Cosmonaute – the first space-traveling wrist chronograph. The brand with the winged B is now the main sponsor of the Swiss project S3 (Swiss Space Systems), of which the avowed aim is “space for all”. For this purpose, S3 has notably set up a program of weightless flights.

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ....      BIG FOTO

The ZeroG project will begin in 2015 in over 15 locations around the world, including Asia, the Middle East and Central America. These flights of around two hours aboard an Airbus will each include 15 “parabolas” or free floats lasting between 20 to 25 seconds and providing a chance to experience total weightlessness by floating as if in space.

Passengers’ equipment will include a Breitling chronograph specially created for the occasion. Equipped with a light and sturdy black titanium case and a SuperQuartz™ movement (ten times more accurate than standard quartz), this S3 ZeroG chronograph is distinguished by its S3 logo appearing on the dial and the rubber strap, as well as by its caseback engraving depicting a parabolic flight.

It will serve as a boarding card for passengers and will not be commercialized outside this flight program. Along with their flight suit, the lucky partakers in the ZeroG experience will be entitled to keep this authentic high-performance and functional instrument for professionals, water-resistant to 100 meters, as mementoes representing the equipment having accompanied them during this unique and unforgettable moment.

“Both our Pilot’s Watches and the Patrouille Suisse team stand for Swiss precision and technical perfection,” explains Linus Fuchs, Managing Director Switzerland of IWC Schaffhausen. “Our shared values and passion for flying inspired a special limited edition designed to be a fitting tribute to the excellence of these outstanding pilots,” continues Fuchs.

FUNCTIONALITYFORTHECOCKPIT

ThePilot’s Watch Double Chronograph Edition Patrouille Suisse features a cockpit design with coloured highlights. Mirroring the functionality of flight instruments, the displays are generously sized and clearly laid out. The hands and indices have a white luminescent coating that guarantees high legibility. The optics of this decidedly masculine timepiece are rounded off by an attractive shot-blasted stainless-steel case and a black soft strap with back-stitching.
An altimeter-shaped date display further underscores the instrument-inspired look. Three signal red elements provide highlights: the small red seconds hand, which indicates normal running; the red stopwatch seconds hand; and the small triangle on the triple date display. Another eye-catching feature is the third push-button at “10 o’clock”. This can be used to stop the split-seconds hand at any time and then pressed again to resynchronize it with the stopwatch seconds hand, making it ideal for timing laps or intermediate times.

PIONEERS IN THEDEVELOPMENT OF PILOT’S WATCHES

IWC developed its first Pilot’s Watch almost 80 years ago. In 1936, the so-called Special Pilot’s Watch started out on a professional mission in the service of pilots. It was designed to withstand the difficult conditions encountered in the cockpit of aircraft at that time. The Schaffhausen - based manufacturer’s passion spurred its engineers and watchmakers on to ever-greater technical achievement. Today, IWC’s Pilot’s Watches are very popular and elegantly combine modern technology with traditional values.

Girard-Perregaux’s expertise in manufacturing watches, adds a new addition to the Hawkcollection. The note worthy new ambassador boasts a powerful, technical chronograph with a pink gold case, and is reinforced with ceramic and rubber components.

The angular, sculptural cases that characterize the timepieces in the Hawk collection have forged the reputation of this sporty and contemporary line. Respecting these stylistic canons to the tee, the design of the new Chrono Hawk Pink Gold marries the sumptuousness of precious metal with the technical sophistication of black ceramic and rubber. A case that is both luxurious and innovative presents a polychrome face in which the intensity of the dark components heightens the warmth of the gold. In the same spirit it embraces the novel combinations, with the high-tech rubber strapped encased with alligator.

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...           BIGFOTO

The case is made up of 62 different parts and demands a high degree of skill to produce. With a frame fashioned from satin-finished pink gold and measuring 44 mm in diameter, it serves as the basic structure that incorporates the other parts, starting with those made of ceramic and rubber. The ceramic is extremely resistant to wear and tear with a Vickers hardness of 1,400. It is composed of micrograins with a diameter of 0.2 microns, compressed at very high pressure. Because it is scratch-proof, ceramic is used for the bezel, in particular, but also the chronograph push piece parts, including the push piece protectors and the crown.

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...           BIGFOTO

The dial of the Chrono Hawk Pink Gold displays a motif inspired by the shape of the famous Girard-PerregauxTourbillon Bridges. It is encircled by a three-dimensional flange graduated with the minutes scale and showcases the indexes striped with bands of luminescent material to enable night reading. The hands are also visible in the dark. The small seconds are viewed on a subdial at 3 o'clock, while the chronograph functions are displayed via a central direct-drive seconds hand and a subdial at 9 o'clock for the minutes. An aperture at 6 o'clock shows the date.

The Chrono Hawk Pink Gold houses aGP03300 self-winding Manufacture movement with 431 components. Its arrow-shaped oscillating weight and the decorative finishes on the movement can be admired through a sapphire crystal case-back, which is itself engraved and secured with screws. This latest version of the Hawk is water-resistant to a depth of 100 meters and has a strap with a folding buckle.

EBERHARD & CO.CONTOGRAF ChronographEdition NEW

TRIBUTE TO CONTOGRAF - 1960s

On the occasion of the prestigious Baselworld 2014 exhibition Eberhard & Co. presents the world preview of the new Contograf, re-edition of the 1960’s Brand’s creation of the same name, emblem of its era thanks to its innovative features.
Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...           BIGFOTO

The company, which bears the name of the founding watchmaker, Georges Eberhard, was created in 1887.

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...            BIGFOTO

This makes it one of the oldest companies which in La-Chaux-de-Fonds, a small village in the Swiss Canton of Neuchâtel, invented the craft of watchmaking, established its criteria and spread its values.

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...            BIGFOTO

To preserve the memory and to offer today’s enthusiasts the chance to wear one of these historic timepieces, Eberhard has started revisiting various points on its long adventure by relaunching some of the milestone timepieces from its past.

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...

One of them is the Extra-fort, reissued to celebrate one of the classic chronographs from the 1940s - protagonist of several international auctions - which has now become one of the company’s best-selling models. The next chapter will be told by the Tribute to Contograf, contemporary interpretation of a creation from the 1960’s.
Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...            BIGFOTO

An era of optimism, lively creativity and innovation, and also of growing wealth which, among other things, allowed more people to buy fine objects which until then had been considered a privilege for the few, mechanical watches from Switzerland.
Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...            BIGFOTO

The 1960’s Contograf boasted some very innovative characteristics, in the pure style of a watchmaker which has always been ahead of its time. It was a precision chronograph with two counters and a large date window at the 6 o’clock position, featuring a fast-changing date, something of a revolution at the time.

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...

This feature and its waterproof buttons made it a piece for everyday use, helping promote the view of a watch as an indispensable accessory. One interesting element was the minute counter, divided into three units and designed to measure the duration of a telephone call, at a time when long-distance or even international calls were undertaken with a degree of caution...

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...            BIGFOTO

Most of these original features have been maintained in the new 2014 edition, but there is no shortage of innovative details: the new ceramic bezel with unidirectional rotation serves as a frame for the tachymeter scale inspired by automotive design.

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...            BIGFOTO

The caseback is screwd-in like in the original version and contains the inscription “Tribute to Contograf - 1960s”.

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...           BIGFOTO

The date window at 6 o’clock has kept its particular trapezoidal shape. The innovations include the new metallic bracelet Chassis and an original black leather strap with a “red arrow” embroidered detail . The deployment buckle Déclic (Patented) is available as an accessory.

The 8147calibre (base ETA 7750 13¼) guarantees the reliability and precision that have made Eberhard & Co. one of the points of reference for mechanical chronographs.

BVLGARI – OCTO Bi-Retro BRAZIL

BVLGARIOCTOBi-RetroBRAZIL Limited EditionNEW

Hoist the flag! Bulgari pays tribute to Brazil by dressing its OctoBi-Retro watch bearing the attributes of the flag of a country that is revolutionary in several respects.

The colourful, technical and daring new Bulgari Octo Bi-Retro Brazilwatch appears in a 50-piece limited edition clad in blue, yellow and green.
Created by the master artisans of the Manufacture Bulgari, at the heart of the Swiss Jura, the dial of the Octo Bi-Retro Brazilis meticulously hand-crafted in three different colours using the precious champlevé technique, a delicate and complex exercise. This respect for traditional Haute Horlogerie skills does not preclude fanciful and modern touches, since the motif chosen to evoke Brazil is a resolutely contemporary interpretation of the colours of the flag adopted by the Brazilian Federal Republic on November 19th 1889.

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...      BIGFOTO

Green, the traditional colour of the House of Braganza, the former Brazilian royal family, symbolises hope and nature. It is a direct reference to the Amazon Forest, one of the world’s major treasures.
Synonymous with the many riches of Brazil, yellow evokes gold, the emblematic colour of the Habsburg dynasty, as well as the natural resources of a country capable of drawing upon its roots, its history and its native soil to nurture its growth and its development.
Finally, blue is a tribute to the stunning sky over Rio de Janeiro, one of the world’s most festive cities where much of the 2014 World Cup will take place and which was the nation’s capital from 1763 to 1960 – the year when the modern city of Brasilia designed by the visionary Oscar Niemeyer was built.

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...           BIGFOTO

The singular nature and sophistication of the Octo watch by Bulgari enable it to assert its original lines stemming from a clever blend of Haute Horlogerie and architecture. Its 43 mm case, interpreted in this instance in steel with ceramic and rhodium inserts, and fitted with a rubber strap secured by a steel folding clasp, is a constant source of surprises with its 110 facets. The octagon shape is directly inspired by the octagonal motif of the roof on the Roman Basilica of Axentius and also recalls the ingenious works of Leonardo da Vinci, or the boldness of the modernist movement of which Oscar Niemeyer was one of the major representatives.
Driven by a movement developed and produced by the Manufacture Bulgari– mechanical self-winding Calibre GG7722 with a 45-hour power reserve – the Octo Bi-Retrois a sporty timepiece designed for intense living. Featuring jumping hours as well as retrograde minutes and date, this exceptional model is issued in a 50-piece worldwide limited edition.

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...           BIGFOTO

Its display enables swift and efficient reading. The hour is immediately visible thanks to the jumping hour technique, which reveals it through a 12 o’clock aperture. To provide an accurate display of the minutes and seconds, the dial is laid out like an ingenious instrument panel: sweeping across a broad 210° sector, a retrograde hand indicates the minutes with the help of markings on the bezel serving to read off intermediate minutes in ten-minute segments. The equally retrograde date display appears on a 180° sector at the bottom of the dial. All the informations are displayed in snapshot in a very original mode.

RJ-Romain JeromeSTEAMPUNK Auto ColoursLimited Edition NEW

Steampunk Auto Colours :RJ-Romain Jerome pops out in colour !

Getting ready for summer is on everyone’s mind... So why not add some colour to your wrist ? RJ-Romain Jerome introduces its new Steampunk timepiece that plays with the contrast of light and dark, bringing new colours that will brighten your upcoming summer days.

RJ-Romain Jerome launches new colourful timepieces for the automatic edition of the Steampunkcollection. Inspired by the original iconoclastic timepiece, the new model plays with the brands signature aesthetic codes combined with a retro-futuristic design. Housed in a black PVD-coated steel 50 mm case, the movement has been striped down to provide an unobstructed view of the sturdy, circular graining and rigorously beadblasted blackened bridges. Inspired by Steampunk, the surface of the indexes has been hand-worked directly on the movement’s bridges, creating the unique RJ-Romain Jerome“rough” finish.

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...

The Roman XII and VI numerals, the logo and the hexagonal crown have been coloured in yellow, white, red, blue, green and orange depending on the model. Each piece showcases a mysterious sense of depth by creating a contrast between the blackened face of the watch and the colourful elements. The colour of the watch is made even more striking thanks to a black alligator leather strap, adorned with matching coloured stitching. Every detail from these Swiss Made timepieces, takes you back to the metallic and blackened engine rooms of the industrial revolution which inspired the Steampunk aesthetic. The automatic movement has a power reserve of 42 hours, which winds the propeller shaped second hand at 9 o’clock – reminding us of the majestic propellers of the transatlantic ships from the 20th Century.

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...

The hour and minute hands have also been designed in the shape of anchors. The satin finished bezel is coated in black PVD, drawing your eyes to the surface of the movement that is held in place by four screwed-down pistons with visible springs, symbolising RJ-Romain Jerome’s signature “X” motif.

Limited to 99 pieces in each colour, the Steampunk Auto Colour is a vibrant evolution of the Steampunkcollection, adding colour to your summer and allowing you to dream of afar destinations.

Eco-Drive watch with dual sensors for electronic compass and altimeter available from mid-May 2014

CITIZEN proudly announces the Eco-Drive*2 ALTICHRON CIRRUS. This newest watch in the PROMASTER line features dual sensors for an electronic compass and altimeter.

It launched in mid-May 2014 and is available in two designs — titanium and pearl-white titanium. PROMASTER is CITIZEN’s world-renowned brand long held in the highest regard by professionals for supreme durability, superior functionality, as well as the ability to capture the imagination.

First marketed in 1989, the original ALTICHRON was a groundbreaking CITIZEN watch featuring superior altimeter functions that became one of the hallmark models of the PROMASTER brand. This new model builds on the ALTICRHON tradition, adding the latest CITIZEN technologies, such as Eco-Drive technology that powers the watch using any light source. These enhancements along with a sophisticated design that plays to the wearer’s spirit of adventure — which won the Good Design Award*3 2013 — make this watch worthy as a CITIZEN flagship model.

The altitude and depth measuring capability reaches as much as 10,000 meters, higher than any mountain on the planet, and as deep as 300 meters below sea level. Rather than displayed digitally in an LCD, all the information regarding altitude or direction is shown as an analog representation, making it possible to keep time display as the main function.

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...   BIG FOTO

The color and shape of the hands are designed to make it easy for a wearer to read multiple types of information at a glance. For example, colors for indexes on the dial and hand are coded by function. In spite of its sophisticated capability to display a complex array of information, once a user understands how to read the watch operation becomes very easy.

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...   BIG FOTO

A striking three-dimensional sense of depth makes the dial look even more captivating. Inside you can clearly see floating indexes and the hands beneath the transparent dial, suggesting sky with clouds floating at different heights above land. At first glance the watch resembles aircraft and helicopters ascending to greater heights.

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...   BIG FOTO

The rounded streamline design of the case simulates jet streams and the arc of the earth seen from the great heights. The overall allure of this watch comes from the image of high altitude and the sky in its details. All of this combines to embody the liberation you feel when you venture wherever your imagination takes you.

A dial and oscillating weight cut from a disc of aventurine now graces the Grande SecondeTourbillon, Jaquet Droz’s legendary timepiece. For the very first time, the spellbinding display of its tourbillon is enhanced by the poetic, mineral glitter of a star-strewn night sky.

Reinterpretation and respect: two watchwords governed the creation of this latest version of the Grande Seconde Tourbillon, in which the entire range of skills and knowledge held by Jaquet Droz has found its fullest expression.  Within the white gold case, redesigned to a new diameter of 39 mm, a fusion takes place between the technical mastery involved in producing watchmaking complications and the high aesthetic standards and virtuosity required in jewelry making – features of the Brand since its inception in the Age of Enlightenment.

The Grande Seconde Tourbillon Aventurine is a jewelry watch; its bezel, lugs and the contours of the famous figure 8 motifs are set with 382 brilliant cut diamonds.  The aventurine, with its scattering of tiny gleaming shards, is made yet more splendid by the fire in the precious stones, conjuring up a veritable night sky in miniature, echoed by the blued steel hands. A delicate touch of mother-of-pearl is introduced as the ultimate refinement and plays with the effects of light and the reflections of the exquisite gems.  The hours and minutes dial in white mother-of-pearl has exceptional readability, while the tourbillon, protected in its sapphire crystal frame, reveals the complex architecture of watchmaking with hypnotic appeal.

It is a dazzling piece of theater that the owner of this timepiece can enjoy again when turning the watch over to see, on its back, a custom-made piece of aventurine set into the gold oscillating weight and affixed with the two gold stars that form the signature of Jaquet Droz.

For the first time Jaquet Droz has paired the tourbillon with a mineral dial and has placed this particular complication in a 39 mm case. The self winding mechanism is fitted with a power reserve of 7 days. Only 28 of these exclusive, bewitching timepieces are available.

RICHARD MILLERM 030Le Mans Classic 2014 Limited EditionNEW

The 7th Le Mans Classic will take place on July 4, 5 and 6. Richard Mille will once again be there as Main Partner and Official Timekeeper of the race. The Jura watchmaker has supported this competition since the first event in 2002.

This retrospective of the “24 Heures du Mans” is the chance for thousands of car enthusiasts to meet around the Bugatti track. Le Mans Classic revives more than 80 years of automobile sport history by bringing back the cars and the pilots who created the legend of the most famous race in the world on the great 13 kilometer Le Mans circuit.

As a tribute to this exceptional race, Richard Mille will introduce a limited edition watch, the RM 030 Le Mans Classic, the fourth piece to carry the name of the competition.

For this automatic winding caliber, Richard Mille developed a rotor that would prevent overwinding thanks to its capacity to automatically disconnect from the rotor’s winding mechanism when the spring is fully wound. Additionally, this new mechanism is linked to the power reserve indicator placed at 9 o’clock to provide an optimal winding control with the best ratio of constant torque/power.

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...

The RM 030 LMC also has a 24 hours display placed at 2 o’clock. The indication “16”references to the depart time of the endurance race, is a discrete homage to the event.
The RM 030 LMC displays the colors of the historic race inside of its movement as well as its white ATZ ceramic case and with the rubber of the NTPT® crown. This special edition will be a limited series of a 100 pieces.

Lotus
The Lotus Flower grows in the deep mud, far away from the sun. But, sooner or later, the Lotus reaches the light becoming the most beautiful flower ever.
The Lotus flower is regarded in many different cultures, especially in eastern religions, as a symbol of purity, enlightenment, self-regeneration and rebirth. Its characteristics are a perfect analogy for the human condition: even when its roots are in the dirtiest waters, the Lotus produces the most beautiful flower.
According to Buddhism, every person has the potential to become perfect and enlightened, and it is just a matter of time until each human reaches the light.
Buddhists believe that it's necessary to be reborn thousands of times, polishing one's being through many incarnations, until one reaches nirvana – the highest state of consciousness that humans can access.

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...

The journey of the consciousness from spiritual ignorance to perfection happens through many rebirths and can be very painful and difficult, as the process of reincarnation i nvolves the need to repair past mistakes at every new life and one faces the consequences of every action, thought and words. While humans are not conscious of their spiritual greatness, they believe that life is unfair and worthless, but as they evolve through many cycles of death and rebirth, all the darkness is slowly removed.

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...

The moment in which a being reaches nirvana is symbolized by the time that the Lotus flower finally blossoms beautifully over the dirty water, as the water in many different belief systems represents the material world or the physical realm.

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...

Buddha is sometimes and Kannon mostly depicted sitting on a Lotus flower, symbolizing the one who overcame the pain of that prevails in the material world and became enlightened, just like the Lotus flower which starts to grow in the dirty and muddy water but manages to surpass the water and produce a perfect flower. The Peony is said to be able to protect from evil spirits.

IWCAQUATIMERChronograph “50 Years Science for Galapagos Limited Edition

TOGETHER FOR
FUTURE GENERATIONS

AQUATIMER CHRONOGRAPH EDITION “50 YEARS SCIENCE FOR GALAPAGOS”

With the special edition Aquatimer Chronograph Edition “50 Years Science for Galapagos”, limited to 500 watches,IWC honours the 50th anniversary of the Charles Darwin Research Station, a scientificinstitution set up by the Charles Darwin Foundation on the Galapagos Islands. The Aquatimer Chronograph Edition “Galapagos Islands”, with identical technology, is an expression of IWC’s commitment to the threatened archipelago. For the first time ever, this special edition is equipped with anIWC-manufactured movement. Both watches are powered by the in-house 89365 calibre and come with an attractive black rubber coating.

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...   BIG FOTO

Hardly any other man of science has changed our view of  the world like Charles Darwin. The findings of the expeditionmade  by the British naturalist, who discovered the key to  his theory of evolution on the Galapagos Islands almost  180 years ago, are clearly illustrated in the Research Stationon  Santa Cruz. The Charles Darwin Research Station, on  the second-largest island in the archipelago, was built in  1964 and is today indisputably the scientific centre of the  Galapagos. Over 100 scientists, students, teachers and  volunteers from all over the globe work tirelessly to research  the indigenous flora and fauna and to preserve the  Galapagos World Heritage Site from destruction. The Station  trains national park guides, organizes seminars for  teachers and students, publishes the findings of its research  and collects donations. Children and young people are  introduced to the topic of environmental protection through  a combination of teaching, art and entertainment.

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...   BIG FOTO

All these  efforts are made because the laboratory of evolution is seriously  threatened.“We are faced with enormous challenges  if we are to preserve the biodiversity of the indigenous  fauna and flora on the Galapagos for future generations,”  explains Swen Lorenz, CEO of the Charles Darwin Foundation.  “Merely combating invasive species and developing  sustainable concepts for acceptable levels of tourism are incredibly costly and labour-intensive.

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...   BIG FOTO

We are very grateful  for the support we have received from our long-term partner  IWC Schaffhausen.” The Swiss company has sponsored  and supported the Charles Darwin Foundation since 2009  and thus made a substantial contribution to the continuation  of its research work. Georges Kern, CEO of the watchmaking  company: “IWC Schaffhausen pledges itself to  ecologically responsible behaviour and pursues a corporatestrategy  based firmly on sustainability. As the manufacturerof  diver’s watches, IWC believes it has a special obligation  to preserve the unique world of the Galapagos, both above  and below water.

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...   BIG FOTO

We know that the work of the Charles  Darwin Research Station is indispensable for the preservation  of biodiversity on the Galapagos Islands and congratulate  it on its 50th anniversary.” To mark the occasion,  IWC has created the Aquatimer Chronograph Edition“  50 Years Science for Galapagos” (Ref.IW379504),  which is limited to 500 pieces. The technically identical  Aquatimer Chronograph  Edition “Galapagos Islands”  (Ref. IW379502) symbolizes the commitment IWC has  shown to the threatened archipelago since 2009. For the  first time ever, this special edition is equipped with the  IWC-manufactured 89365 calibre, which has considerably  increased its value and status. Part of the proceeds from sales will flow directly into the scientific work of the nonprofit organization.

BLACK AS THE LAVA ON
THE VOLCANI C ISLANDS

The attractive matte black rubber coating on the stainlesssteel case is a special feature of the two Galapagos editions. It is applied in a complex vulcanization process, during which each individual case is placed in a special mould and subjected to heat and pressure to bond it with the rubber. The material is warm to the touch, very resilient, and gives the watch a chunky feel, which makes the chronograph particularly pleasant to operate. While the Aquatimer Chronograph Edition “Galapagos Islands” (Ref.IW379502) comes with the familiar black-and-white contrast (black for the lava on the volcanic islands, white for the mist in which they are often shrouded), the hands and indices of the anniversary Aquatimer Chronograph Edition “50 Years Science for Galapagos” (Ref. IW379504) are a striking luminescent blue.

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...   BIG FOTO

The colour will perhaps remind people familiar with the Galapagos fauna of the exotic blue-footed booby. This engaging bird, which early mariners used to ridicule for its trusting nature and waddling gait, flies skilfully and is a fantastic plunge diver when on the hunt. Whole flocks of blue-footed boobies nosedive from enormous heights like arrows into the sea in synchronized manoeuvres: an unforgettable natural spectacle. The hands and indices of the two watches are coated with several layers of Super-LumiNova ®* and glow in the dark in two different colours. The diver thus knows immediately which display shows the time of the day and which shows his dive time. The new external/internal rotating bezel makes operation easier with diving gloves or cold fingers. The rotation of the bezel is transmitted through a sophisticated sliding clutch system to the interior of the case and the internal rotating bezel.

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...   BIG FOTO

The IWC SafeDive system ensures that elapsed dive time is not inadvertently shortened. The IWC-manufactured 89365-calibre movement displays elapsed minutes in the upper subdial; times of less than a minute are measured by the central stopwatch hand. The seconds hand in the lower subdial indicates that the watch is running normally and can be stopped to enable synchronization. Thanks to the integrated flyback function, pressing the reset pushbutton brings the stopwatch hand back to zero and immediately starts timing again: a feature that is ideal for measuring decompression stops. Like all the watches in the 2014 Aquatimer generation, the two Galapagos editionsare equipped with the practical IWC bracelet quick-change system.

FIFTY YEARS OF THE
CHARLES DARWIN FOUNDATION

In the 50 years since its inauguration, the Charles Darwin Research Station has achieved much in its mission to document and preserve one of the Earth’s last great naturalparadises. Scientifically controlled breeding programmes have saved several species of the legendary Galapagos giant tortoises from extinction. In a struggle lasting decades, imported and feral domestic animals such as goats, dogs, cats and pigs, which represent an enormous danger to indigenous species, have been contained. A quarantine programme helps prevent invasive species from making further inroads: a mammoth task in view of the more than 180,000 tourists who visit annually, numerous cruise ships and a busy airport. Successes important for the islands but also for the surrounding waters have been achieved. In 1998, for instance, a marine reserve was created around the Galapagos. In 2001, the World Heritage Site was extended to include the Galapagos Marine Reserve and became one of the largest marine conservation areas in the world.

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...   BIG FOTO

The Galapagos Islands were listed as a World Heritage Site as early as 1978. Many of the creatures on the Galapagos, such as marine iguanas, sea birds and sea lions, whose habitat includes both the land and the sea, benefit from protection. The Ecuadorian authorities are taking stringent measures to eliminate the practice of finning, when sharks are hunted down and stripped of their fins. But there is still much to do. The Research Station is currently engaged in a struggle to preserve the mangrove finch, a subspecies of the Darwin finches that is threatened by extinction, and of which there are approximately 70 left. The Station’s pride that the Galapagos Islands have yet to lose a species of bird is equalled only by its ambition that this is the way it should remain. With these two special editions, the Aquatimer Chronograph Edition “50 Years Science for Galapagos”and the Aquatimer Chronograph Edition “Galapagos Islands”, IWCSchaffhausen is helping to ensure that the Charles Darwin Research Station will be able to continue its vital field research and educational work well into the future; because part of the proceeds from sales goes directly to the Charles Darwin Foundation. And thus to the fascinating world of the Galapagos archipelago.

Ulysse NardinMARINE Lady DIVER NEW

A signature Ulysse Nardin timepiece since 2001, the Lady Diver reveals a refreshed marine-inspired design for 2014.
Appearing exquisite in any situation, the Lady Diver’s fresh aesthetic is one where her maritime history is fully celebrated. The dial, bezel and strap are awash in a wave motif. On her iridescent mother-of-pearl dial, waves seem to shimmer in the sunlight, pronounced by 24 circling diamonds on the dial and bezel marking the hours, with more than 30 of this precious gemstone nuzzled between the lugs.

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...           BIG FOTO

The unidirectional turning bezel, another new feature of the Lady Diver, is further outlined with wave decoration. Uniquely, the bezel is edged with what appears to be cresting waves that seem to rhythmically rise and fall as if affected by the gravitational forces of the sun and moon. A picture of elegance in sport, the Lady Diver leaves nothing to be desired.

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...           BIG FOTO

A fine jewelry watch and reliable diving instrument, the Lady Diver is self-winding with the UN-815caliber steering the hours, minutes and seconds, as well as the date at the 6 o’clock position. She has a power reserve of 42 hours and is water resistant to 100 meters.

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...           BIG FOTO

The Lady Diver is offered in stainless steel in cool white and smoky black, with an 18-karat gold model to follow. The watch is accompanied by a durable rubber strap ideal for endless activity. Inspired by all things marine, Ulysse Nardin’s journey in haute horology began on the sea. Decade after decade, the manufacturer shares its passion for the ocean through its timepieces, and the iconic Lady Diver is no exception, boasting a nautical past paired with modern femininity.

ProjectO1– Concept Watch NEW

O1, the perfect time sphere

The ancient Greeks used to say that the perfect geometric figure was a sphere. O1 is a transparent sphere, edgeless, which behind its smooth, fine and elegant surface lets its soul shine through: Precise clockwork engineering, created using cutting edge technology that, like the hands on the clock, is relentlessly moving forward.

Project O1- Transparent (Colorless)

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...           BIG FOTO

As the wise man wrote, there can be no watch without a watchmaker. Behind this piece of unique design is the project of a passionate timepiece collector who has sought a balance between aesthetics and sophisticated craftsmanship.
O1 is a wristwatch, a fashion accessory, a symbol of class and elegance that reveals the mystery of time keeping. A little gem on the wrist that reveals and encases the mechanical gearing in all its glory. A minimalist gesture of studied simplicity that, fleeing utilitarianism, proposes a unique piece in the art of watchmaking.

Every day has 24 hours and each hour 60 minutes with their corresponding seconds; watches, it is known, keep time and this time runs now invariably also within the sphere of O1.
O1 is an initiative by Matthieu Keller.

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...           BIG FOTO

O1 Project – Made in BARCELONA

This project was born from the union of experience and passion for watchmaking, the desire to create a timepiece with a modernist design, noble but not oversized, gleaming as crystal, and transparent, so that the machinery is in sight and the watch reveals its own gearing. An elegant yet sporty watch to wear in any situation.

This watch concept, innovative in its design and technical features, has its own DNA. Its design is unique and represents a whole scoop.

Project O1- Green

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...

In order to envisage this clock with its smooth contours and rounded edges, so as to allow for perfect light penetration unhindered and without divergence, both the box and glass form a single piece.

Our challenge has been to design the production of this timepiece at an affordable price so that everyone can afford to wear an O1 on their wrist.

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...           BIG FOTO

After reconciling the technical and design requirements for a perfect match, we are able to present this magnificent timepiece of delicate roundness, pure transparency, and bright reflections

with its skeleton machinery at its heart surrounded by a sober and luminous sphere.

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...           BIG FOTO

CASING / GLASS / SPHERE / BACKING

For he casing: (C5O2H8)n

"Polymethyl methacrylate", aka PMMA*, is a completely transparent thermoplastic, perfectly smooth and shiny, with a capacity for greater light transmission than glass (refractive index 1.49), greater lightness (density 1.19 g/cm3 2.53 g/cm3 unlike glass) and scratch-resistant and impervious to solar radiation and aging (no yellowing); all the while being nearly 7 times stronger than glass of equal thickness.
To accomplish this, it undergoes a number of processes such as extrusion, casting, trimming, polishing and drilling.

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...           BIG FOTO

We decided to design a casing that integrated the glass, forming a single piece of PMMA. Thus we have created a fully transparent box, gleaming in appearance and perfectly smooth in structure, which represents a breakthrough for watch in this category.
The backing is also made of transparent PMMA, and it is joined to the casing using a tension ring which ensures a perfect seal.

Project O1- Black

Click on themouse wheelto seethe large size ...

Both the support for the gearing and the dial are integrally formed of transparent PMMA, although in this case we have decided to introduce different color variations at the heart of the watch. These parts require manipulation and control of the highest precision, only available to highly sophisticated industrial equipment. Therefore it will be produced in Switzerland, where competence in matters of precision and miniaturization, as well as the art of watchmaking, are indisputable and offer total quality assurance.

It can be changed easily.

IndieGoGo (crowdfunding)
To undertake this magnificent O1 project, we need your support, in order to reach our funding goal.
You can participate directly or sharing this project with friends and relatives, in order to open it up to as many people as possible.
If we reach our stated funding goal, and only then, we will be able to initiate the various stages of production and assembly. Our suppliers have been carefully selected and are on hold to start manufacturing.
We will also create a website dedicated to the project and an on-line store.
The estimated production time for the whole watch is three months.
During that period we will stay in touch, making you part of its development by sending photos and / or videos of the different stages of production to final shipment to our lucky supporters.
Likewise, if the project is successful, we are eager to design new accessories, new models, a chronograph... In addition, to thank you for the trust and support that will enable us to meet our objectives, we will offer our supporters a 40% discount in an accessory and a 30% discount in one of our next timepieces.
With the hope of having piqued your curiosity, and aroused your interest for our O1project, yours sincerely.
